It's hard to believe that September is here! I have already seen growth in your children and they are adjusting very well to the new school year procedures I have in place. In reading, we continue to review to sharpen our previously learned skills. Fifth grade math is plugging along with addition and subtraction of decimals. Have your child sing the song which reminds us what we do with the decimals when adding or subtracting :) The fifth graders have been working on personal narratives and we are continuing to read the novel, Steal Away Home. We are enjoying this historical fiction. The sixth graders have also been writing, but our focus has been on the persuasive genre. Parents, you will enjoy these once they have been finished. We are also reading excerpts from Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul and have really enjoyed the different types of stories as well as learning the note taking process while we read.
Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
