Exciting Week!!!

What an exciting week for the last week of October!

  • Tuesday - The Lightning Thief performance at the Cobb Energy Center.

  • Friday - Grandparents' Day - I'm looking forwarding to meeting grandparents or special friends! Dismissal at 12:30 for Middle School students.

  • Saturday - Trick or Treat! Be safe!

Reading - We are continuing to work on our vowel teams. Please have your child read their "red" words daily.

5th ELA - Since we are going to see The Lightning Thief, I want the students to listen to chapter 2 of the book on Learning Ally so they have a better understanding of the play. This can count toward their 30 minutes of reading for the night. I've also sent home a word search so they can become a little more familiar with the characters. I have only asked they to do the word search for 10 minutes. This is a great exercise to help the students learn how to scan. On Wednesday, the students will be giving details about the project they will complete on The Lightning Thief. There will be an element of choice such as write a letter, design Lightning Thief trading cards, or create your own Camp Half-Blood, to name a few. There will be some at home components of this project. More details to come on Wednesday.

5th grade Math - We have been having fun learning to divide with double digit divisors. I think the students know the song by heart now! We will be having a quiz on Thursday. This week we are fine tuning our skills through long division war. Not only are they practicing division, but reviewing multiplication, too!
