Reading: We are practicing with identifying the closed and magic-e syllable types and reading 2-syllable words such as capsize, website, and cupcake. Continue to practice red words and read 20 minutes nightly!
Math: Our unit on place value continues with addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers. We will have a test on Friday covering numbers in standard, expanded, and number name form; identifying the value of digits in large numbers; comparing numbers; and rounding to the 10s and hundreds.

Language Arts: Today we took an assessment over "Mrs. Frisby and the Crow". Tomorrow we will introduce the vocabulary for our next story, "The Fire Dragon Awakes." We are practicing skills in cursive, cause-and-effect, and punctuation in our centers.
Social Studies and Science: We will wrap up our European explorers unit with Vasco Nunez de Balboa Wednesday, and then have a review activity on Thursday. We began a unit on weather in science this week, and will spend time exploring tools to measure weather, weather patterns, and predicting weather.
