GRACEPOINT Gives to Gatlinburg

This past November when raging fires claimed the homes of many residents of Sevier County, one of GRACEPOINT’s teachers felt a call to raise support for the victims of this terrible tragedy.  Shannon Hipps, one of our 4th grade teachers, has extended family and friends in the area, and heard first hand of the stories of the devastation.  With Christmas only a few weeks away, Mrs. Hipps brought an idea to the staff of GRACEPOINT to donate Walmart gift cards to these victims in lieu of exchanging gifts at the annual staff Christmas party.  The staff overwhelming agreed that supporting the people of Tennessee would be a wonderful way to put the love of Christ into action. The idea was then shared with GRACEPOINT students and families, tying into the Core Virtue of the Month, compassion.

Just a few days before Christmas, Mrs. Hipps overnighted $1500 to Pi Beta Phi Elementary School in Gatlinburg, where approximately 131 students and 7 faculty members lost everything from the raging wildfires
