Week of 10/19-10/23

IXL- Ask your child to tell you about our www.IXL.com challenge! Ask them what will happen when we get to 20,000 questions solved!

This week we will learn how to solve multi-step word problems using the C.U.B.E.S. acronym (See the picture below.) We will use this all year! They will finish up their week by making their own multiplication book. It will include the commutative, distributive, and associative properties, skip counting charts, the fact families, and some fun tricks for remembering facts!

Our 6th graders rocked their test on Thursday that covered Ratios and Rates! Way to go guys! They will be taking their fractions, decimals, and percents test on Monday. (I decided to split the test into 2 tests so it wouldn't be overwhelming.) On Tuesday, we will be moving on to our next unit (Expressions and Equations).

This week we will be learning all about being a smart consumer as we learn about sales tax, tips, discounts, simple interest, etc. I know these will be skills they can use the rest of their lives!
