We have had a great start to the school year! Thank you parents for your assistance at home in your child's learning! I notice an increase in not only knowledge, but confidence when parents are sitting down with their child at home to go over the concepts they are learning in school. A fun way to do this is to have them pretend like they are the teacher and teach you what we are learning about. This solidifies the information in their brains and makes them feel like the expert!
We have really started off with a bang in 6th! We have already learned how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals! Last week we began our unit on multiplying and dividing fractions. We also worked on conversions. A fun way to practice this at home is to get them to help you convert when cooking! This week we will focus on dividing fractions. We will play a fun review kahoot game on Thursday and have our test over multiplying and dividing fractions on Friday! I've really enjoyed getting to know your sweet children!
These boys have worked so incredibly hard on our first unit on integers! We finished this unit up last Friday with our test. This will come home this Thursday in their packet. This week we will start our unit on rational numbers. See if they can tell you what a rational number is and isn't! We should finish this unit up right before fall break with a fun ocean themed unit project on rational numbers! It should be a lot of fun!
This week we will wrap up our unit on "The Tools of Algebra". They will take a test on Friday covering all of the material. Next week we will dive into integers! They have background knowledge on this from last year, so I truly believe they will do great on this unit!
