Mathematicians, Mathematicians...

To the parents of Alex, Finn, Kate, and Riley -- Welcome to our Math blog!

I am thrilled to have your children aboard for 6th Grade Math this year! We started our journey off by learning what it means for us to be Mathematicians, and reviewing our skills from last year so we were prepared to take on our first official unit of The Number System: Decimals.

This year, we are incorporating a new layer to your child’s math program through a methodology called Woodin Math developed by Chris Woodin at Landmark School. The whole-to-part philosophy teaches the children to commit math skills to memory rather than just remembering the steps. The beginning stages are at the basic level, but it is helping them learn the “code” which will help them in more difficult stages. If you have any questions about this addition, please contact Amy Benton.
