Thank you for your support!

Hello Parents,

It was a good week back!  The students had a wonderful time at Tellus Museum.

Here's a look at the upcoming weeks;

Language Arts: Monday we will begin a novel study that should continue for the rest of the trimester: How to Eat Fried Worms.  Your child will bring home the novel a few nights each week with an assigned chapter for you to reread with them (they are really short!)  We will be learning vocabulary and writing sentence summaries for each chapter. We will have multiple SWYK throughout the book for comprehension.   This is a good book for the spring and we'll have some fun activities to wind up the year.

Writer's Workshop/Social Studies:  Hopefully you saw the project assignment come home on Friday:  "Little Entrepreneurs " . This combines our economics unit with our persuasive/opinion writing.  They will "make" their product at home and write about it in class as well as make their "Shop" to sell it in.   This will be a fun way to learn, write, and create all in one! Please check the hand out sent home for more details and dates.

Math:  We will begin the x8's this week as well as begin our Geometry Unit: Polygons. Please continue to have your child practice all their multiplication & division facts each night.

My Reading Class:  We will begin the syllable division rule CV/C (Tiger Words).

Remember:  NO SCHOOL on Friday in honor of Good Friday!  I hope everyone has a wonderful 3 day break and a Happy Easter!

I can't believe it is already March and 3rd Trimester - this year seems to be flying by!
This week we will continue our writing genre of informational writing. Your child has picked a United States President to research and will continue to write their informational writing about them. In math we will continue to work on identifying, comparing fractions, and equivalent fractions. We will also continue to work on the multiples of 6. In Social Studies we will continue to learn about the 3 branches of government. In reading we are learning y ending i and e.
This Thursday the K9 pup will be here to read to. Don't forget to help your child pick out a reading passage to read to the pup Wednesday night.

Don’t forget to set your clocks to spring forward this week!

Happy Valentine's Week!

Dear Parents,
I hope your child has filled you in with our fun "I Love to Read" activities of this past week; from book reviews, to acting out parts to our campaign of donating books to a school in Nicaragua. If you have any Spanish books you would like to donate to this cause please send them in this week. They will also take gently used English books.
