When we return from Fall Break, we will begin our whole group novel study, A Fish in a Tree
We will pick back up with grammar ~ Pronouns

Reading and Writing:
  • Independent Novel Study:  We continue to build reading and writing skills through the use of Reading Strategies. We will culminate the Novel Study next week. This week's Reading Responses: Theme and Summary
  • Whole Group Novel Study: Fish in a Tree:  Next Week, we will introduce the whole group novel study through a series of lessons which will center on the assessment of the student background knowledge.   We will begin reading the novel when the students return from Fall Break.  
 
 
Week of August 27th - August 31st:
 
Grammar:
  • Plural Nouns 
  • Concrete vs Abstract Nouns 
  • Application to writing assignments 
 
Reading/Writing:
  • Independent Novel Study - **Students may choose a book to read from the Middle School Reading List; all written journal entries are to be based on these books. 
  • Students Compose Journal Entries using Text Evidence to Support: 
  • Students will write 2 to 3 Journal Entries Weekly
  • Summary Update (Plot, Setting, Characters, and Theme)
  • Descriptive Character Details 
  • Making a Connection
