Week of 8/19
It's been a great start to the year! I hope it has been a smooth transition for all of you. The kids are getting used to the 4th grade routines and schedules. They are probably coming home extra tired, but hopefully that will get better as they build up their stamina.
Please don't forget that Parent Night is next Tuesday, August 27. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

We will be having a little quiz on Friday, August 23 over Chapters 1 - 3 vocabulary for the book we started this week, Hank Zipzer.
The vocabulary words are also in your child's daily binder behind the LA divider.
You do not need to be reading Hank Zipzer at home unless your child wants to reread the chapters we have already read. We will read this together in class and have a lot of discussion.
Your kids are doing great despite learning their very busy and sometimes confusing schedules. We had to split up the kids for science and that started today. It was a bit confusing, but we figured it out. Give them a week or two and it will be second nature.
This week we have been working on increasing and decreasing number sequences and recognizing patterns. One way you can help your child practice is by having them verbally count backwards certain number sequences. For example, start at 53 and count backwards until 29.
Freckle math homework will be starting soon. This program should be familiar for all the kids that were at GP last year. If they are new, please let me know if you have questions.
This week in reading we are continuing to review vowel teams ue and ew. They are doing a great job with this and have really impressed me with how well they know the drills and procedures. I really have enjoyed getting to know this sweet group!
Please email me if you have any questions!
