Mrs. Matherly's Blog

Celia Matherly joins GRACEPOINT as the 1st grade teacher with 29 years of teaching experience in both public and private education. A Georgia native, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exceptional Child Education from Georgia Southern and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from West Georgia. Celia and her husband Skip have recently celebrated the marriages of their 3 children. Her hobbies include biking, hiking, exercise and reading.

Celia is passionate about teaching reading using the Orton-Gillingham method, as she has seen positive results throughout her teaching career. She is excited to be a part of the GRACEPOINT faculty.

Mrs. Matherly resides in Rome, GA, where she attends Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church.

Happy Monday!  Last week was a terrific week for our 1st graders here at GRACEPOINT!  They were ready to learn and full of energy!  Praying this week will be just as wonderful.
On a side note, some of our classmates have had the stomach bug.  Please be aware.  Thanks and have a blessed week!

Welcome to week 2 of December.  Looking forward to some fun Christmas activities AND a pizza party for our class.  I'm hoping we will earn our last letter is RESPECT today so we can have pizza for lunch on Wednesday.
I forgot to mention DRESS DOWN day on Wednesday.  Christmas attire or house shirt is what I'm thinking.  I'll let you know more specifics in today's afternoon note.
