(who, what, where, when and why)  Red words need to be practiced nightly.  You can find activities for the red words in the back of your child's Blue folder.

Parents and Students,
Last week we spent our reading time reviewing all the Orton Gillingham rules we have learned so far this year. GREAT JOB- Nic Cam, Bryson and Gavin!!!!  As we move into this week, we began learning about the rules for "soft and hard c and g". (the soft sound for c an g is made when e, i or y follow) Reminders to review your RED words nightly.  In the back of your BLUE folder are different activities you should be doing to practice at home. Please make sure that you are doing multi-sensory activities as you call out and spell the RED words.  Reading homework should be a a minimum of 20 minutes each night. Parents please review the reading passages or sentences with your child.  I encourage you to ask them questions regarding what they are reading. I have reviewed reading homework expectations in class. Hope all have a GREAT week!

This week we will be working on words that are called "Wild Old Words".  These are words that end with old, ind, ild, olt and ost! (wild, bolt, kind, post, cold) The rule is a long vowel before a final blend.
Passages this week will include words that go along with the above rule.  Your students continue to work hard each day. They are making gains in reading.  We are working hard on fluency skills, breaking the code with phonics and improving comprehension.  I am looking forward to sharing your child's successes at conferences.
