READING
Last week...
-Continued with suffix ure, used in words such as picture (ture says /cher/)
-*ea /short e/ as in bread, instead  
-Review of suffixes: -ist (one who does) as in dentist; -y as in grumpy, -en (to make, made of) as in deepen; - ize (to make; forms verbs) as in fertilize 
 
This week...
- Review: Suffix-ate (to make or do) as in vacate, donate, fascinate, educate
- Suffix -ure found in >sure /zher/ as in pleasure, measurement 
Note: *We covered ea as in bread before sure /zher/
-ey /long a/ as in they, obey will be next 

HOMEWORK: Students should read the passage sent home at least twice (once silently and at least once out loud to an adult). Our goal is for each student to improve in reading fluency which includes accuracy, speed, and expression. Please encourage reading with "expression" at home -- and we will work on it in class!
Red words will be sent home each day. If a new red word is not sent, review the others on the ring.

*Review lessons on previous sounds are included as needed.

This week...
-Continue with suffix ure, used in words such as picture (ture says /cher/)
- sure as in pleasure, measurement (sure says /zher/)
-ey  as in they, obey
 
The class will continue to include morphology, the study of word meanings and formation, along with Orton-Gillingham in reading class.  The students are doing word sums with each suffix: de + part + ure = departutre

HOMEWORK: Students should read the passage sent home at least twice (once silently and at least once out loud to an adult). Our goal is for each student to improve in reading fluency which includes accuracy, speed, and expression.  Please encourage reading with "expression" at home -- and we will work on it in class!  Red words will be sent home each day.

-Suffix ure, which is used in words such as picture (ture says /cher/ and measure (ture says /zher/).
