WORD OF THE MONTH
Our Word of the Month is GRATITUDE. Our verse is Philippians 1:3, “I thank God every time I remember you.”

CHAPEL MESSAGE:

This past week in chapel, Mr. Williams talked about the importance of having an Attitude of Gratitude. Did you know that science has actually proven that having an Attitude of Gratitude improves our overall well-being? It improves our psychological health, our physical health, boosts our self-esteem, increases our empathy, and enhances our sleep. Who doesn’t want that??

There are several ways to cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude. Here are a few:

  • Celebrate minor accomplishments – think about what you have rather than focusing on what you don’t.
  • Tell the people in your life something that you appreciate about them.
  • Be more kind – smile and help others.
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal.

 REMINDERS:

*Diaper Drive continues through Tuesday. We have already collected over 10,000 diapers!!

*We dismiss at 1:00 p.m. on Friday to kick off our FALL BREAK!

Week 5 of Third Grade

FIFTH WEEK of Third Grade!

Our fourth week of third grade was FANTASTIC and our fifth week is going to be FABULOUS!

Last week, third graders earned all of their class pom poms for their individual and group efforts to learn and serve others. We celebrated BIG on Friday by watching The Mouse and the Motorcycle and eating popcorn in Hipp Hall. It was great to socialize together even though we were sure to keep our physical distance.

THE UNMASKED TRUTH:

As you know, students and staff at GRACEPOINT are required to wear masks inside the building – in the hallways, restrooms, classrooms, etc.  We’ve been wearing masks for four weeks now and students have done amazing with them. As you also know, third graders are very creative. They have found multiple uses for their masks beyond their intended use. (blindfolds, white board erasers, tissues, napkins, snack holders – just to name a few). On top of that, masks sometimes end up on the floor in the classroom and bathroom, on the playground, etc.  Truth is, the masks have gotten a little dirty. Please be sure to wash your student’s masks frequently and remind them what they are actually for. THANK YOU! We are reminding them as well.

This week in Third Grade:

ELA- We are taking a break from novels to focus on grammar and writing. We will begin with a review of nouns and verbs while focusing on choosing and using the correct article.

Math- This week, our focus will be on addition and subtraction strategies. Please read your student’s agenda nightly for homework and announcements.

Social Studies – Early American Indians continued. We will review the Arctic and Northwest Indians before moving on to other regions. Look for a review packet to come home with your student tomorrow for him/her to study all week. Friday, we will have a SWYK (Show What You Know).

Allen Reading Group - We will be reviewing the <ck> rule and adding the suffixes <-s>, <-ed>, and <-ing> to words ending in <ck>.

WOTM/CHAPEL

Our Word of the Month is GRATITUDE. Our verse is Philippians 1:3, “I thank God every time I remember you.”

This past week in chapel, Mr. Williams encouraged and reminded us that we are to be on mission for God as directed in Matthew 28:19-20, the Great Commission.  We are to GO, SHOW, and TELL the good news of Jesus Christ and His love for them to our family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else God brings into our lives because we are so GRATEFUL for what He has done for us.

 REMINDERS:

*Wash face masks frequently.

*Please send in a healthy snack daily.

*Please check the agenda nightly for homework and announcements.

*Students should be reading their Fluency Story (in blue folder) to someone twice every night that it comes home.

*Make sure to Order Fun Lunch for Friday by Wednesday at noon! This Friday it is PIZZA HUT!!
