Good Morning and Happy Monday!
Please read this closely!
I hope everyone's weekend was fun and restful. Only nine days until spring break. :)
The winner of our March Madness: picture book edition bracket was The Day the Crayons Quit! It was so fun to read a bunch of different books and vote on our class favorite. Your child came home on Friday with a March book Madness bookmark to use at home with their favorite book.
This Friday, we will be building Hope Bags for the homeless during HOUSE time. Please send in socks, gloves, hats, granola bars, and applesauce sometime before Friday for us to use in building these bags. We have done this in years passed and it is always wonderful to see our students compassion for others.
This Friday's fun lunch is Moe's! Please send in orders by Wednesday at 12:00 if your child wishes to have Moe's on Friday.
Homework this week is back to Seesaw! Remember: you have three assignments to complete this week. You may choose to complete them any day of the week, as long as they are all done on Friday. As always, practice reading and spelling red words and read from your blue folder each night. This is critical for progress in reading.
This week, we will be learning about counting money in math, producers, consumers, goods, and services in social studies, and reviewing nouns, verbs, and adjectives in wiring. We have a Zoom mystery reader today as well!
Next week, we will finish our money unity, study needs and wants in social studies, and complete several fun Easter writing assignments. On Thursday, we will hold a math fact Easter egg hunt!
Reminder: No School Friday, April 2 due to Good Friday! Spring break is April 5-9. Class resumes on Monday, April 12.
Lemonade Stand: This Friday, from 12:15-1:15, first grade will be holding a "lemonade stand" for the faculty and staff of GRACEPOINT. We will spell pink lemonade pouches, regular lemonade pouches, strawberry shortcake rolls, and Swiss rolls to our teachers and other staff members for 50 cents each. The purpose of this activity is to combine our study of money in math with our economics study in social studies. Students will be asked to count out the money their costumers use to purchase their goodies and explain to them what consumers and producers are. They are very excited and it will be a fun, real-world learning experience for our class.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful week!
Ms. Barber
