Updates

Hello,

This week we worked on the red word "also" and the skill /nch/ as in "lunch," "bunch," or "crunch." Tomorrow, we will have a shortened reading class time due to the early dismissal. Therefore, we will use our time to play some review games and refresh our perviously taught skills.

Next week, we will work on the red word "were" and continue /nch/ with the added suffix of -es.

Please keep reading in the blue folder and practicing red words each night.

It is very obvious everyone in our reading group is doing their homework every day and that is why they are making progress. :)

I look forward to seeing you and talking to you on Monday and Tuesday.

Ms. Barber

Updates

Hello,

I hope everyone enjoyed a surprise break. Praying you all stayed safe during the storms. I wanted to update you on a few reading issues.
First, this week's red word will be "also." I am changing it because it will be on the read sheet for this week's skill. Today we reviewed "friend" and /th/ for one more day because of the few days off. Tomorrow, we will begin /nch/ as in "lunch," "hunch," and "bunch." Friday is a short reading class due to the early release. Therefore we will spend the hour reviewing perviously taught skills.

Please read your blue folder and practice the red words on your students ring every night this week.

Thank you. As always, please email me with any questions or concerns,

Ms. Barber

Updates

Our class is doing great on the /th/ sound. We will spend a few more days on it before moving on to /nch/. Please keep reading the blue folder and practicing red words each night. This week's red word is "friend." Next week's will be "were." We will most likely be reviewing "was" and "what" as well, as these three are often mixed up. Friday is reading we will be playing review games covering all the skills we have learned this year so far.

Thank you,

Ms. Barber

Cat/Kite Rule Cheer

The girls have done so well memorizing this rule and chant. Monday we move on to the hard /th/ sound and the red word "friend." Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoyed some outside reading today! Tomorrow we will finish unvoiced /th/ so we can begin voiced /th/ on Monday. We will review perviously taught red words one more time tomorrow. Next week's red word is "friend." A new read sheet will be coming home on Monday as well.

Reading Updates

Today we finished up /sh/ with -es. We will started /th/ tomorrow. /th/ makes to separated sounds (hard and soft, or as I call them, voiced and unvoiced). We will conquer one sound at a time starting with soft/unvoiced. This week there will be no new red word as we are reviewing ones that have not reached mastery. Please keep practicing them and reading the blue folder each night. You can expect to see a new read sheet tomorrow.

Red Word Review Schedule:
Monday: Was
Tuesday: Put
Wednesday: What
Thursday: Once
Friday: Both

Next week I will introduce a brand new red word.

Thank you and have a great week,

Ms. Barber

Updates

We are rocking /sh/ + es and /sh/ + s! I am so proud! We will have some extra students in our reading group tomorrow so we will be switching "Fun Friday" to Thursday this week! The last page in our blue folder is the read sheet for /sh/ + es.  Please practice red words every night. This week's red word is "put." Next week, we will review "what," as it has not been mastered yet.

Thanks you,
Ms. Barber

Updates

Hello,

  • Our reading class did very well with the /sh/ sound this week. We will finish this skill up tomorrow and review it on Monday, before moving on the /sh/+s and /sh/+es on Tuesday.
  • Tomorrow, I will be giving a short red word "show what you know." This way, I can see which red words students have mastered and which ones need to be reviewed.
  • Please read the /sh/ read sheet (the last page in your student's blue folder) and practice red words tonight for homework!
Thank you,

Ms. Barber
