Reading Brag

I am so proud of our reading group's hard work and effort today! They rocked class today and are quickly becoming "CH" masters!

Reading Update

Hello,

This week we worked on R blends, next week we will review S blends! The red word this week was "both." The next red word will be "of."

Thank you,
Miss Barber

Reading Updates

Hello Everyone,

We spent this week continuing to review am, an, and all words. We will move on next week to a new skill. Please continue to review red words and read pages in your blue folder each night. Have your student "arm tap" red words they are unsure of and finger tap all other words they need assistance with.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Barber

Updates

Hello!

This week we reviewed the "Cat/Kite" rule and began reviewing am, an, and all. We will continue practicing these sounds next week, as they are a little tricky. Please continue to practice red words and read sheets at night. I can tell you are doing a great job of this.

Reading Update

Hello!

Just a quick update. We will be reviewing the "cat/kite" rule for the next couple of days. The "cat/kite rule" states: "if the initial /k/ sound is followed by an a, o, or u, then you spell the /k/ sound with a c. If after the initial /k/ sound is an i, e, or y, spell it with a k." Practice the word "what" tonight. We have almost mastered this red word and will move onto "was" on Monday! There is a read sheet for the "cat/kite" rule in your student's blue folder to review as well. Please make sure your student is "tapping out" any words they need to sound out (they can demonstrate tapping out to you).

We also learned a cheer today to remember this rule. Ask your child to show it to you tonight! :)

Thanks,
Miss Barber

Welcome to Reading!

Hello!

Today we began working on the /ch/ sound! We will also be reviewing old skills over the course of the next couple of weeks all well.

Tonight for homework, please practice the red word "what." There are some ideas in your child's blue folder for practicing red words. In my experience with young students in OG, it works best to focus on one red word per week. So, do not be alarmed if it seems like we are spending a lot of time learning this word. You do not need to read the /ch/ read sheet found in the blue folder tonight.

Thank you! Please contact me with any questions.
